From Elite 16 to the global stage
The Johannesburg Giants have made history by qualifying for BAL 2026 (Season 6)- the continent’s most prestigious basketball league.
In November 2025, the Giants dominated the Elite 16 in Nairobi, finishing 2nd in our group and advancing to a high-energy Final against Nairobi City Thunder. Our Semi final performances against Dar City cemented us as one of Africa’s most exciting new teams and secured our place in the upcoming BAL season.

Qualifying for BAL 2026 in our very first year is a milestone we hold with deep humility. The Johannesburg Giants were built on belief, discipline, and a commitment to showing that South African basketball belongs on the biggest stages. With a squad made almost entirely of homegrown talent, we set out to prove that local players can compete – and win- at a high level.
This achievement is bigger than us. It belongs to the coaches, communities, and supporters who fuel the passion for basketball across South Africa. We are still a young club, but our journey shows what is possible when purpose meets hard work. The Giants are rising, and we hope our story inspires the next generation to believe in their own potential.
